Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati on Saturday demanded President’s rule in Rajasthan over phone tapping case and accused its Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of acting illegally.
“Rajasthan Chief Minister first violated the anti-defection law and betrayed the BSP by admitting its MLAs into the Congress. And now he apparently made another illegal decision by tapping phones,” she tweeted.
“The Governor of Rajasthan should take effective cognizance of the continuing political deadlock, mutual disturbance and instability in the government and recommend imposition of President’s rule in the state to save democracy,” Mayawati wrote in another tweet.

Earlier in the day, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra lashed out at the Gehlot government for alleging that two audio recordings have surfaced in which the MLA Sharma, Union Minister Shekhawat and a BJP leader Sanjay Jain are purportedly talking about the “conspiracy” to topple the government.
