New Delhi: In a significant development, former Karnataka minister and Congress leader KJ George’s close aide has been arrested in connection with the Bengaluru violence.
Kaleem Pasha, husband of a BBMP corporator from Nagwara ward, has been arrested.
So far, 206 people have been detained in connection with the case. The involvement of SDPI goons have also been found by the investigating team.
As per the FIR lodged by the police, a gang of five people led the heavily armed mob of 200 to 300 people telling them to hack police officials to death. The violence erupted over an alleged derogatory post on social media by Karnataka Congress MLA’s nephew P Naveen who has also been arrested.
Three people got killed in the police-firing while trying the control the situation and about 60 police personnel were injured the riots.
The arsonists pelted stones and were armed with rods, clubs, machetes and petrol-filled bottles.
