Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s speeches influenced ISIS terrorist nabbed from Delhi

New Delhi: According to Delhi Police, ISIS terrorist Abu Yusuf alias Mustaqeem Khan revealed during interrogation that he was highly influenced by speech of radical Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.

The Special Cell of Delhi police on Saturday had arrested ISIS operative Abu Yusuf from Ridge Road area in central Delhi after a brief exchange of fire on Friday midnight. He was planning to plant IEDs at a place with heavy footfall.

According to Delhi Police, Abu Yusuf was in touch with ISIS handlers who instructed him to plan terror strikes in India.

“Incriminating materials including a brown colour jacket containing three explosive packets and a blue colour check jacket containing four explosive packets which were removed safely, leather belt containing explosive 3 kg approximately recovered,” said Pramod Kushwaha, Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

The controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik is currently banned in India, Bangladesh, Canada, the United Kingdom for his hate speeches. Naik was booked by the Enforcement Directorate in 2016, based on a National Investigation Agency FIR that was registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
