Ayodhya: In an appalling incident some fraudsters have withdrawn Rs 6 lakh from the bank account of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. A total amount of Rs 6 lakh has been stolen through two fake cheques.
According to DSP Rajesh Kumar, ” The fraudsters had withdrawn Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh on September 1 and September 8 respectively, using a fake cheque with fake signature.”
The incident came to light when General Secretary of the Trust, Champat Rai, received a call from the bank for verification on Wednesday, when a third cheque of Rs 9.86 lakh was places for clearance.
An FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 471 (using forged cheque as original), 468 (forgery for cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 420 (cheating) and 419 (impersonation), officials said.
The police is hunting for the fraudsters and people involved in the forgery.
