New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi passed away on Wednesday. He was hospitalised at All India Medical Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi after he contracted coronavirus. He was 69.
“He passed away at 8 p.m. on September 23 and was under medical care at AIIMS Trauma Centre for the past 15 days,” said a senior AIIMS official.
This is first such incident in the Union Cabinet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of the Minister. He said that Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta and a dedicated MP.
“Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.
