New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday paid tributes to K R Narayanan, former President of India, on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Kocheril Raman Narayanan served as the 10th President of India (1997–2002) and 9th Vice President of India (1992–1997).
Narayanan is regarded as an independent and assertive President who set several precedents and enlarged the scope of India’s highest constitutional office. He described himself as a “working President” who worked “within the four corners of the Constitution”.
