Aizawl : Congress came into power in Mizoram with huge majority twice. However this time Congress was uprooted from Mizoram and hence from power in Seven Sisters.
Nation’s northeast region give up on Congress. In 2008, 34 seats, 2013 32 seats were won by Congress. However this election Congress was embraced by failure. Lal Thanhawla, who was CM for 5 years and MP for more than a quarter century was fallen into the looser’s kit at both the constituencies where he competed.
Political observers consider the present at Mizoram, as the most difficult time of the history for the party in Northeast. MNF won 25 seats out of 40 in Mizoram. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur and Tripura where BJP is in power belongs to Seven Sisters. In Nagaland NDA alliance is in power.
