Jammu & Kashmir: An ongoing encounter has claimed the life of a Deputy Superintendent of Police and injured an Army Major. One militant is also killed in the firing.
The gunfight began after Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives opened fire at a Joint Team by Army, CRPF, and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police while they were searching for militants at Turigram in Kulgam District of Jammu & Kashmir.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Thakur who was in-charge of the operations was shot during the gun battle and died later in hospital. An Army Major was injured and shifted to the hospital.
The encounter is continuing with three or four militants still holed up in a house.
