Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda supports Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and rejected the opposition’s demand for the resignation of the railway minister in connection with the Balasore train accident. Deve Gowda said that Ashwini Vaishnav is working tirelessly to restore the situation in Balasore, and it is not right to demand his resignation at this juncture.
“Railway minister has taken all necessary steps to restore the damage that happened. He is working tirelessly. Let the inquiry be completed. The minister is doing his best, and demanding his resignation at this stage is not wise”, Gowda said.
HD Deve Gowda, who is also the president of the JDS, is the seniormost leader in the opposition. Deve Gowda’s remark that the move to demand the minister’s resignation on the issue was not correct dealt a blow to the opposition’s move to present the train accident as a political issue.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had stated that the CBI would investigate the Balasore train accident. The minister also added that he received a recommendation from the railway board regarding this.
