New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the airfares in the country have witnessed a substantial decrease, ranging from 14% to 61%, as a result of the intervention by the Modi government. Flight ticket prices from Delhi to various destinations have come down. The Union Minister stated that the decision was taken at the meeting of the Aviation Advisory Committee held on June 6.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the lowered airfares for flights connecting Delhi to destinations such as Sri Nagar, Leh, Pune, and Mumbai. He emphasised that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the ministry are actively monitoring daily fare prices.
Additionally, Scindia clarified that the airlines possess the authority to determine the ticket price by evaluating various market factors and employing a special algorithm for price determination. He also highlighted the social responsibility of private airlines, urging them to exercise restraint while increasing fares across various sectors.
