In an overnight encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, a terrorist was killed, and a police personnel sustained injuries. The exchange of fire began late on Monday night at Hoowra village. Police authorities have reported the recovery of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials from the neutralised terrorist. The identity of the individual is currently being established.
A police spokesman shared information on Twitter, stating, “Encounter has started at Hoowra village of #Kulgam district. Police & Security Forces are on the job. One JKP personnel got injured. Operation in progress. Further details shall follow”
This counter-terrorism operation follows closely after the security forces successfully thwarted a significant infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. The terrorists were neutralized in a joint operation conducted by the police and the army in the Kala Jungle area of the Machhal sector in Kupwara. This encounter occurred just a week after security forces eliminated five terrorists while foiling an infiltration bid in the Jumgund Keran region near the LoC in Kupwara district.
