Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who recently joined the BJP-Shiv Sena government, is now set to inaugurate a new party office for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) near Mantralaya in Mumbai. Pawar had previously claimed that the entire NCP was on his side. In a joint conference, Ajit Pawar NCP leader Praful Patel announced the appointment of Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare as the new State President of the party in Maharashtra, replacing Jayant Patil.
During the conference, Patel stated, “We are relieving Jayant Patil of his responsibilities and in his place, I am appointing Sunil Tatkare as Maharashtra President of Nationalist Congress Party. Sunil Tatkare will have the authority to make organisational changes in the party.” He also announced that Ajit Pawar had been unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party. Patel informed the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker about this decision and appointed Anil Bhaidas Patil as the chief whip of the NCP in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He humbly requested the blessings of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, referring to him as their guru.
Speaking about his new role, Sunil Tatkare emphasised his commitment to strengthening the party in Maharashtra. “I have taken over as the State president of the Nationalist Congress Party. I will strengthen the party in Maharashtra. I have taken into confidence all leaders of the party. I have also called a meeting of all the legislators and zila parishad leaders,” Tatkare affirmed.
Concurrently, Ajit Pawar has called for a separate meeting on the same day, inviting all NCP leaders, MLAs, and MLCs. The actions of Ajit Pawar and the MLAs supporting him have piqued interest among political observers, who are waiting to see their developments in the coming future.
