Gadchiroli: President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the crucial role of education in societal advancement, particularly in empowering tribal and backward classes. Speaking at the 10th convocation of Gondwana University in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, Murmu expressed delight in engaging with the youth during her visit to Maharashtra since assuming the presidency in July of the previous year.
Praising the accomplishments of female students, she cited their achievements as an important example for other girls. President Murmu reiterated the pivotal role of education in transforming the circumstances of tribal and backward communities, underscoring its significance in their development.
“Education plays a very important role in the development of any society, especially in changing the condition of tribals and backward classes,” Murmu said.
The President commended Gondwana University for its efforts in providing education to the tribal population in the district as well as for offering skill-based courses. Murmu said she meets people belonging to tribal communities from time to time, and during her interactions with them, she came to know they want a good education for their children.
“We can learn a lot from the tribal community; how they live in love with the environment, their art of living is wonderful. We should work towards their overall development,” Murmu said.
Furthermore, President Murmu lauded the initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the development of aspirational districts, including those with a significant tribal population. Launched in January 2018, the Aspirational Districts Programme aims to bring about rapid and effective transformation in some of the most underdeveloped districts across the nation.
