Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has accused the state’s Congress government of engaging in “appeasement politics” following the remarks made by Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara. The minister stated that there was no need for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder case of Jain monk Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaja of Chikkodi.
On Saturday, police discovered the body parts of the Digambar seer in a defunct borewell in a field located in Chikkodi, Belagavi district. The manager of the ashram where the monk used to stay had reported him missing, and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has termed the murder as ‘highly condemnable.” “Attempts were made to give it an angle that his financial habits led to his murder. People suspects that the murderers are being protected. I think this is the height of appeasement politics, Karnataka government became active only after pressure. This is wrong. The murderers should be given the strict punishment,” the Union Minister said.
The Union Minister had on Sunday met with Gunadhar Nandhi Maharaj Jain Muni at Navgrah Tirth and condoled the death of the Chikkodi Jain seer.
