New Delhi: In a recent operation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at five different locations in South Kashmir as part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy case.
This latest action comes after the NIA’s previous search operation in May, where 13 locations in Budgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir were searched. The case under investigation involves the plotting of a conspiracy by terrorist organisations through both physical and online cyberspace.
According to the NIA, which filed the case last year, banned terrorist groups had devised plans to carry out violent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir using sticky bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and small arms. These plans were identified as part of a broader scheme orchestrated by these terrorist outfits, in collaboration with local youth and over ground workers, with the aim of disrupting peace and inciting communal disharmony in the region.
Earlier, on June 26, the NIA also conducted searches at various locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror-related case registered by the agency in the previous year, as per officials.
