Indore: A report said that Madhya Pradesh Child Commission (MP-SCPCR) visited a missionary hostel at Alirajpur district, in which orphans children were kept illegally. Bibles were found in large numbers suspecting conversion and the children had two surnames. One surname indicated they belong to tribal community and the second surname is a Christian name. This hostel was working in the tribal area for the past thirty five years. All the students are from Adivasi community.
A FIR was registered against the warden after the visit of MP-SCPCR. In addition, a notice was sent to the district collector by the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights.
The report mentioned that MP-SCPCR team led by Onkar Singh found grave discrepancies at Masihi Higher Secondary School campus at Alirajpur district on July 24. The home had had 71 students, out of which 59 were minor. Out of the 59 minor children, 35 are girls.
These students were orphans and according to law, the missionary hostel has no authority to keep them. The hostel has been running for thirty five years without any proper paperwork.
FIR against Chairperson of the organization, Kalpana Daniel, has been registered for breaking the Juvenile Justice Act.
Onkar Singh said that the team recovered packets of condoms and surgical equipments from the school, said the report.
The commission believes that that it may be an apprehension that the children kept in the shelter home might be trafficked.
The shelter home is located in the tribal belt of Madhya Pradesh and the documents relating to government aid were not recovered. The authorities of the shelter home said that they have taken foreign aid. There are documents which show links to Singapore.
After the visit of MP-SCPCR, the orphans have been transferred to various government orphanages as per the law. The commission also directed the DM to present an Action Taken Report within three days to the issue of notice.
