Amritsar: In a significant achievement for the Counter Intelligence Wing of Punjab, the Ferozepur Police successfully apprehended four drug traffickers in two separate intelligence-driven operations on Sunday. The police disclosed the recovery of a substantial quantity of heroin weighing 77 kilograms, along with the confiscation of three pistols from the individuals in question.
In what marks one of the most substantial heroin seizures of the year 2023, the Director General of Police, Punjab, conveyed via Twitter, “In one of the biggest heroin seizures of 2023, in two separate intelligence-led operations, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur has apprehended 4 drug traffickers and recovered 77 kg of heroin (41 kg + 36 kg) and 3 pistols.”

Providing additional insight, the DGP emphasized that these criminal networks were deeply engaged in trans-border and inter-state drug trafficking activities within Punjab. An FIR has been duly registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) at the Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station, according to the DGP’s statement.
In a related development, on the previous day, Saturday, the Punjab Police made an additional discovery of four kilograms of heroin concealed beneath the road surface in a village named Bute Dian Chhana in Mehatpur, Jalandhar.
