Nuh: Controversies concerning the plotting of violence in Haryana’s Nuh district continue to rage, with new information throwing light on the issue. An audio tape has leaked on the internet in which an individual believed to be an Islamist urges a mob to “Kill as many Hindus as possible.”
In the viral audio, the speaker initiates the conversation with an “Assalam Walikum” greeting and proceeds to incite members of their community to congregate at the Shringar temple in Mewat on August 31. The speaker goes on to advocate for the killing of at least 10–20 individuals out of a gathering of 100–200 people, stating, “Stop calling yourselves Mewati if you cannot attack 10–20 Hindus.” Shringar Mandir, a Shiv temple located around 45 minutes away from Nuh (Nalhar) Shiv Mandir, was the intended destination of the Jalabhishek Yatra.
The unidentified individual in the audio questions the courage of Mewat’s residents, urging them to act fearlessly and challenging their readiness to confront a conflict. The audio also implies a readiness for violent actions against Hindus and expresses a determination to disrupt their activities.
Soon after the audio clip circulated, violence erupted near Shringar Mandir. Videos showing miscreants attacking Hindus have been accessed by a news media, which also reported that the Haryana police have identified the person behind the audio and plans to arrest him.
The backdrop of this situation dates back to July 31, when an Islamist mob pelted stones at a Hindu religious procession in Haryana’s Nuh district. The procession was organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and Matrishakti Durgavahini, involving visits to ancient temples in the Mewat region after a jalabhishek ritual at Nalhar Shiv temple.
Amidst this unrest, it has come to light that the Haryana police arrested Rohingya Muslims in connection with the attack on the Hindu procession. The Superintendent of Police in Nuh, Narender Bijarniya, revealed that Rohingya refugees had illegally occupied land in the area. During a demolition operation, it was discovered that some of them had also participated in the anti-Hindu violence.
