Srinagar: In anticipation of Independence Day, the Army inaugurated a significant causeway near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The aim behind this endeavour is to enhance accessibility to vital services in the region.
A spokesperson for the Army said that, with pride, the Indian Army introduced a pivotal causeway situated in Gagar Hill Village within the Boniyar tehsil of Uri, in the northern part of Kashmir. This gesture is a symbol of unity and progress, dedicated to the people of the forward areas of Boniyar.
The causeway, connecting remote villages along the LoC, signifies a transformative gift to the forward areas of Kashmir just ahead of the 77th Independence Day celebrations, he said.
With unwavering determination, the Indian Army undertook a rapid 13-day construction project to address the pressing need for improved infrastructure, he added. The initiative was led by the Commander of Pir Panjal Brigade, Brigadier PMS Dhillon, culminating in the official inauguration of the causeway on Saturday.
“This accomplishment marks a turning point for the residents of these remote villages, granting them access to essential services and swift medical evacuations during emergencies,” the official said.
The causeway’s unveiling triggered exuberant celebrations among local residents with drumbeats and dancing, reflecting their profound gratitude to the Army, he said.
As India prepares to observe Independence Day, the causeway embodies the essence of service and progress. The Indian Army’s commitment to uplifting remote regions stands as a testament to unity and determination, promising a brighter future for all, he added.
