Bengaluru: Authorities have successfully apprehended the principal orchestrator behind a honey trap syndicate based in Bengaluru. The arrest of Neha Meher (27), a Mumbai-based model, has dealt a significant blow to the nefarious operations of this group. Neha and her team masterminded a series of honey trap schemes within Bengaluru, ensnaring a staggering twelve individuals. This elaborate web of deception resulted in the illicit acquisition of substantial sums of money from their unsuspecting victims. A comprehensive investigation into the multifaceted activities of the gang is currently in progress.
The unearthing of this criminal enterprise commenced when three members of the gang were apprehended by the Puttanahalli police a mere two days ago. Through their interrogation, pivotal information regarding Neha’s involvement came to light. The intricate network of this operation was facilitated through communication channels such as Telegram, where the victims were invited to a flat in JP Nagar. The setup typically involved summoning unsuspecting individuals to a residence in Nagar under Neha’s guise. Once ensnared, these victims were subjected to threats and extortion tactics, resulting in the unlawful extraction of money.
The unravelling of this scheme originated from a courageous individual who, having fallen victim to the honey trap, lodged a formal complaint with the Puttanahalli police. This prompted a swift response, leading to the arrest of Sharan Prakash, Abdul Khader, and Yasin, who were found at their residence during a police search operation. In a pivotal turn of events, Neha was traced to Mumbai through meticulous mobile tower location analysis. The Bengaluru police swiftly took action and apprehended Neha in Mumbai.
