A student in Kathua was brutally beaten for writing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on a blackboard at school. The incident occurred at a government upper secondary school in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Teacher Farooq and school principal Mohammad Hafeez were suspended in the case.
The severely injured student is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The student stated that he was assaulted because he had written ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the classroom blackboard. Locals also came forward, demanding that the teacher be punished. The Deputy Commissioner issued a notification stating that a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The Sub-Divisional magistrate, Kathua Deputy Chief Education Officer, and Kharote Government Upper Secondary School principal are its members. A case has been filed against both the teacher and the principal under multiple sections. The school principal is still absconding.
