New Delhi: In a recent event, Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, unveiled the world’s inaugural electric flex fuel prototype. This flex fuel model will be a major step forward in the transport sector. These vehicles operate solely on 100% ethanol fuel. Switching to alternative fuels can also significantly reduce air pollution.
Flex fuel is a technology that enables engines to run on a blend of 20% ethanol. The vehicle launch precedes India’s goal of achieving a 20% ethanol blend of petrol by 2025–26. If it is a strong hybrid electric vehicle, it has the capability to cover 40% of the distance by deactivating the petrol engine.This approach would result in the vehicle operating in electric mode for 60% of the time.
