New Delhi: There has been a significant 106 percent increase in the number of tourists visiting India, as indicated by the data for the January–June period. Furthermore, the data reveals that there has been an increase in foreign exchange earnings in 2023 compared to the previous year. The data indicates that a total of 43.80 lakh foreigners arrived in India during the January–June period. This is a 106 percent increase over last year. The number of tourists visiting Indian tourist destinations has decreased due to the coronavirus epidemic. There is a noticeable contrast in the tourist numbers due to the impactful sustainable development initiatives undertaken by the Indian Tourism Department.
The data indicates that the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi have significantly contributed to the enhancement of the tourism sector. Simultaneously, there has been a substantial increase in the number of tourists to Jammu and Kashmir. In 2022, 1.8 crore tourists visited the region, and in 2023, there is an expected increase of 1.09 crore tourists.
