New Delhi: A residential building in Maharashtra’s Thane district collapsed shortly after midnight on Sunday, claiming the lives of an infant and a woman while injuring five others.
Responding promptly to the distress call, the Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) and firefighters from the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation swiftly arrived at the scene. After hours of relentless efforts, a total of seven individuals were successfully rescued from the debris.
During the nighttime search operation, seven people were rescued from the debris. An eight-month-old baby girl, named Taslima Mosar Momin, and a 40-year-old woman, Uzma Atif Momin, succumbed to their injuries, as reported by an official cited by PTI.
The five survivors, comprising four women and a 65-year-old man, were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility, where they received treatment and were reported to be in stable condition.
The search and rescue operation and work to clear the debris were completed at around 3.30 a.m., according to the official statement.
