New Delhi: The upcoming G20 summit venue is set to be adorned with a rich tapestry of art and cultural artefacts representing 59 countries. These treasures will be showcased at the Bharat Mandapam, creating a vibrant and diverse cultural mosaic. Among the notable exhibits are a replica of an Apollo statue from Italy as well as 18th-century artefacts from China. The United Kingdom contributes a significant piece in the form of the 13th-century Magna Carta.
India’s prominent representation includes a copy of Pāṇini’s Aṣṭādhyāyīs, a foundational work in Indian philology that has set the standard for how Sanskrit should be written and spoken. Pāṇini authored the Aṣṭādhyāyī, comprising eight chapters, during the late 4th century BC. Each participating country has carefully selected five significant items aligned with five distinct themes for this exhibition.
The Ministry of Culture has confirmed the active participation of G20 member countries and invited nations in this cultural exposition. Notably, certain iconic artefacts like the Mona Lisa painting (a tribute to art enthusiasts), the Gutenberg Bible from Germany, the Coatlicue statue from Mexico, and the Abrahamic Family House from the UAE will be presented in both digital and offline formats.
The grand unveiling of this exhibition is scheduled for September 9 at the Bharat Mandapam, with these captivating cultural treasures becoming accessible to the public following the summit.
