Yogi Adityanath’s visionary project, the Ayodhya airport, is set to open in December. It will be named the ‘Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport.’ In the first phase, flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad will commence. Following this, additional flights to other cities will be introduced based on passenger demand and traffic.
The decision has been made to open the Ayodhya Ram Temple for devotees on January 24th of the upcoming year. In the lead-up to this date, the Yogi government is diligently working to provide all necessary facilities for devotees. Prior to the Sri Ram Temple’s inauguration, flights will commence operations from the new Ayodhya airport this December.
The airport’s development comes at a cost of Rs 350 crore, and the blueprint for the airport has been unveiled. The terminal building covers an area of 6250 square meters, and the new interim terminal will accommodate up to 500 passengers during peak periods. The airport features a 2,200-meter runway and four aircraft parking facilities. Passenger amenities include eight check-in counters, three conveyor belts (one at the departure hall and two at the arrival hall), as well as parking space for 75 cars.
In the second phase, the central government plans to expand the airport significantly, encompassing the construction of a new terminal spanning 30,000 square meters. The airport’s capacity will increase to serve a total of 3,200 passengers during peak hours. Additionally, in the second phase, the runway will be extended from 2,200 meters to 3,125 meters, and parking facilities for eight A-321-class aircraft will be provided. The second phase of the airport project is anticipated to be substantial. Just last week, the Centre applied for environmental clearance for this next phase. Uttar Pradesh government officials have reported that the process of acquiring land for the new airport and extended runway is currently underway.
