New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the significance of the Indo-US partnership in shaping a rules-based Indo-Pacific during the 2+2 dialogue held in New Delhi on Friday. Emphasizing Defence as a pivotal pillar in the bilateral relationship between Bharat and the United States, Singh highlighted the critical role the partnership plays in ensuring a free, open, and rules-bound Indo-Pacific region.

Despite the evolving geopolitical challenges, Singh emphasized the need to maintain focus on important and enduring issues. He expressed the view that the partnership between Bharat and the US is essential for fostering a secure and rules-based environment in the Indo-Pacific. Anticipating collaborative efforts across various domains, Singh looked forward to addressing emerging challenges through robust partnerships.

Welcoming US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, Singh noted the growing convergence in the Indo-US relationship. Lloyd Austin echoed this sentiment, characterising the scope of Bharat-US cooperation as extensive. He underscored the strength of the partnership, rooted in people-to-people ties, which he identified as the heart of the friendship between the two nations.

Both Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Delhi for the Bharat-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. This diplomatic summit, held annually since 2018, features the Minister of External Affairs and the Defence Minister representing Bharat, while the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defence represent the United States.
