New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has initiated suo-moto proceedings against actor Mansoor Ali Khan following his derogatory remarks about actress Trisha Krishnan. The NCW Chairperson has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) of Tamil Nadu to pursue legal action under Section 509 B. The Commission, in a statement on the social media platform X, emphasized the need to condemn such remarks that contribute to normalizing violence against women.
The controversy emerged when a video from one of Mansoor Ali Khan’s interviews, containing allegedly inappropriate comments about Trisha, circulated on social media. In response, Trisha addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “A recent video has come to my notice where Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan has spoken about me in a vile and disgusting manner. I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive, and in bad taste.” She went on to express her determination to avoid sharing screen space with someone she deemed as “pathetic” and assured that it would not happen throughout her film career.
Trisha and Mansoor Ali Khan were recently seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film ‘Leo,’ where they played significant roles without sharing screen space.
