Pune: The 14-day-long joint military exercise, “Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2023,” between Bharat and Sri Lanka came to an end yesterday (November 28). The closing ceremony was presided over by Brigadier S Taluja, the Commander of the Southern Command in Aundh, and Sri Lankan Major General PGPS Rathnayaka.
The joint military exercise served as a platform to reinforce diplomatic ties between Bharat and Sri Lanka. The collaborative efforts during the 14-day practice sessions aimed at fostering mutual understanding and trust between the armed forces of the two nations.
At a strategic level, the exercise focused on improving interoperability, coordination, and cooperation between the Indian and Sri Lankan forces. Such initiatives contribute to building stronger relationships and facilitating seamless collaboration in various military scenarios.
Officials emphasised that joint military exercises play a vital role in supporting global peace and universal brotherhood. The strengthened partnership between the armies through exercises like MITRA SHAKTI-2023 contributes to the efforts of the United Nations in promoting peace worldwide. In the closing ceremony, the top officials highlighted the professionalism and enthusiasm displayed by the participating soldiers throughout the training period.
