New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 for each individual involved in the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation, as per reports from news agency ANI.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the rescued workers from the Silkyara tunnel at Chinyalisaur Hospital on Wednesday. He stated that all workers have undergone comprehensive health examinations and are in good health, as reported by ANI.
CM said that the workers will undergo further examinations at AIIMS, Rishikesh. Dhami also confirmed the distribution of Rs 1 lakh checks to the trapped workers. Additionally, the rescue workers who participated in tunnel operations will receive a reward of Rs 50,000 each from the state government.
Addressing questions about accountability of the incident, CM Dhami mentioned that the Government of India has initiated a safety audit for tunnels under construction across the country.
All 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel since November 12 were successfully evacuated on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred on November 12 when a section of the tunnel between 205 and 260 meters from the Silkyara side collapsed, trapping workers beyond the 260-meter mark with their exit blocked.
