Medak: Two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots lost their lives when their Pilatus trainer aircraft crashed at Toopran town in Medak district on Monday morning, as confirmed by IAF officials.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:55 am during a routine training session at the Air Force Academy near Dindigul district. The victims include an instructor and a cadet. A media release from the IAF stated, “One Pilatus PC 7 Mk II trainer aircraft met with an accident today morning during a routine training sortie from AFA, Hyderabad. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
The aircraft caught fire upon impact and was quickly reduced to ashes. Rohini, SP of Medak, reported that the crash site is near Toopran and clarified, “It’s a Training Aircraft from Dindigul airport. There were two people inside the aircraft, one trainer and a trainee. The airport staff and clue team are on the spot. The firefighters doused the fire.”
As the authorities continue their efforts to determine if there are any survivors, the area is being combed for possible remains. The cause of the accident remains unknown, and further details are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
