Imphal: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken the decision to cancel the affiliation of 25 schools in Manipur. The move comes in response to concerns raised by the state government, asserting that the schools in question had failed to obtain the necessary no-objection certificates (NOC) before seeking CBSE affiliation.
An official statement from Joint Secretary of Education (School) in Manipur, Anjali Chongtham, confirmed the withdrawal of affiliation. According to Chongtham, the CBSE cancelled the recently granted affiliations, citing that the submitted NOCs were not authorized by the appropriate state government officials. The cancellation aligns with the state government’s request, as conveyed in a letter dated December 15.
The CBSE, through its bylaws, mandates that state board schools must acquire a valid NOC from the state government prior to applying for affiliation with the central board. In this case, the 25 schools failed to fulfill this prerequisite, leading to the revocation of their CBSE affiliations.
A check on the CBSE SARAS 4.0 website reveals that the 25 schools located in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur are no longer listed as “affiliated.” SARAS, an acronym for ‘School Affiliation Re-Engineered Automation System,’ provides real-time updates on the affiliation status of over 28,900 schools across Bharat.
