New Delhi: A red alert has been issued in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh due to heavy fog, severely affecting flight and train services. The heavy fog has caused visibility to drop below 100 metres, leading to problems in transportation. more than 100 flights delayed and numerous train services cancelled.
Domestic and international flights departing from Delhi have faced disruptions. 134 flights departed late from the Delhi airport. The extreme cold and heavy fog have created challenging conditions for travellers.
The air quality index (AQI) in Delhi has reached 356. As this weather condition is expected to persist for the next five days, the risk of accidents is heightened. In light of the challenging situation, concerned officials have issued guidelines to ensure safety in both road transport and air services.
