New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Mos) for Atomic Energy and Space, Jitendra Singh, has announced Bharat’s plan to launch the Gaganyaan by 2025. Addressing the press, Singh highlighted the significance of 2024 in the mission’s timeline, outlining the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) strategy to conduct numerous experiments aimed at fulfilling the mission’s objectives.
Singh affirmed that test flights would validate the functionality of the Crew Module and Operations Module to ensure alignment with the mission’s objectives before the final launch slated for the upcoming year. Highlighting the mission’s scope, he outlined plans for an exploratory team set to venture into space, paralleled by another team exploring the ocean floor. “In 2025, we will delve into the deepest seabed, thereby fostering a blue economy,” he said.
The Gaganyaan probe is set to enter an orbit around Earth at 400 km altitude. The mission’s objective is to facilitate a three-member crew’s three-day stay in orbit, ensuring their safe return to Earth by landing in Indian sea waters with the assistance of the Navy. Crucial test flights are set to be executed this year. ‘Vyomamitra,’ an astronautic robot designed to simulate human actions, will precede the actual mission.
