New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the construction of a border wall to counter illegal immigration from Myanmar, a move prompted by the persistent ethnic conflicts in the neighboring country. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has officially confirmed this initiative.
Over the last three months, more than 600 Myanmar soldiers have migrated to Bharat as a consequence of the ongoing strife in Myanmar, particularly the takeover of the Rakhine region by the Arakan Army, a terrorist group. The displaced individuals from Myanmar are seeking refuge in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district.
The proposed border wall aims to effectively halt the movement of migrants between the two countries, ensuring stricter control over unauthorized entries. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has emphasized that individuals residing in border areas will be required to obtain a visa to travel to Myanmar.
