Karnataka: The Supreme Court asked the Karnataka Assembly Speaker to decide on the MLAs resignation and directed the state DGP to provide protection to the 10 rebel MLAs from Bangalore airport to Assembly on their arrival from Mumbai.
Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is scheduled to chair a crucial cabinet meeting today when the number of resignation by MLAs of the Congress and the JD(S) in Karnataka is continuously increasing. He held a meeting with senior Congress leaders DK Shivakumar, Eshwar Khandre, Siddaramaiah, KC Venugopal, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Dinesh Gundu Rao at Kumara Krupa guesthouse in Bengaluru today morning.
The Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar has not yet accepted the resignations of the MLAs,for which they moved the Supreme Court alleging that Karnataka Speaker Ramesh Kumar is deliberately not accepting their resignations. Hearing the petition, a bench headed by the Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi permitted the 10 MLAs to meet the Assembly Speaker at 6 pm today and convince the decision of their resignation to him.
