Gujarat: Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi was granted bail on Friday by the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court in a defamation case filed against him by the Ahmedabad Cooperative Bank and its chairman Ajay Patel. The court has directed the Congress leader to pay Rs 15,000 as surety in the case.

The court accepted Gandhi’s bail application on conditions that either he be arrested or he appears in the court. Next hearing will take place on September 7.

Ahead of the hearing in the court, Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and tweeted ,” I’m in Ahmedabad today, to appear in another case filed against me by my political opponents in the RSS/BJP. I thank them for providing me these platforms & opportunities to take my ideological battle against them to the public. Satyameva Jayate. ”
