New Delhi: After the results of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress has been hit not only electorally but also with financial crisis. Many wings are reportedly facing difficulties in running their operations. Sources in the Congress party say some departments have been already asked to cut their expenses.
The party has reduced the monthly budget of Congress Seva Dal from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. Similarly, the Congress has asked its women’s wing, NSUI and Youth Congress to find ways to cut down their expenses.
One of the reasons for the financial crisis can be understood from the fact that 20 people who were part of Congress’s social media team, resigned after Lok Sabha election results were announced on May 23. There were 55 members in the teams but at present there are only 35.
The 2019 Lok Sabha election results was the Congress’s second-worst performance in general elections as it could only win 52 out of 542 seats. In 2014, the Congress had won 44 seats.
