Dehradun: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated searches at 17 locations across Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Chandigarh on Wednesday as part of an investigation into an alleged forest scam case involving Uttarakhand Congress leader and former minister Harak Singh Rawat.
Sources revealed that the ED teams are conducting searches at Rawat’s residence in Defence Colony, Delhi, and a medical college in Dehradun, among other locations. The raids are in connection with a case against Rawat over the purported felling of numerous trees, financial irregularities, and unauthorized construction within the Pakhro Tiger Reserve range of Corbett National Park in 2019.
Harak Singh Rawat joined the Congress ahead of the 2022 Uttarakhand Assembly polls after being dismissed from the state cabinet and the primary membership of the BJP for six years due to alleged anti-party activities.
