New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs announced that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece will pay a visit to Bharat at the Invitation of PM Narendra Modi. His state visit is scheduled on February 21 and 22. This visit by the Greek Prime Minister marks the first to Bharat after 15 years. Accompanying the Greek Prime Minister to Bharat will be senior officials and a business delegation.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be the Chief Guest at the 9th Raisina Dialogue in 2024. He will also visit Mumbai before his return. A ceremonial welcome will be extended to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Meanwhile, bilateral talks between PM Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Mitsotakis are also scheduled during this period. PM Modi will also host a luncheon in Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ honor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Greece in August 2023. Post-visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his Greece tour will add momentum to Bharat-Greece friendship, particularly people-to-people linkages. He also welcomed Greece into the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and looked forward to Greece’s membership of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

The last Prime Ministerial visit from Greece to Bharat took place in 2008. The then Greek Prime Minister, Kostas Karamanlis, was accompanied by his Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis.
