New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) India has clarified that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not requested US President Donald Trump to help resolve the Kashmir issue.
“We have seen @POTUS’s remarks to the press that he is ready to mediate, if requested by India & Pakistan, on Kashmir issue. No such request has been made by PM @narendramodi to US President. No such request has been made by PM @narendramodi to US President. It has been India’s consistent position,” tweeted Raveesh Kumar, MEA Spokesperson.

Trump on Monday said that he would love to play the role of “a mediator” on the “issue of Kashmir” between India and Pakistan. “Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked me to help with the Kashmir issue; I would love to be mediator,” Trump said.
Hours after this statement, MEA India lashed out at Trump.
