Thiruvananthapuram: The Health Department has issued a circular banning individuals, including doctors, from posting on social media platforms and running YouTube channels. The circular explicitly states that earning through YouTube violates the code of conduct. Applications for social media usage can now be rejected at both institutional and district levels.
This move has sparked strong protest from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Kerala Government Medical Officer’s Association (KGMOA). KGMOA, in particular, has warned legal action if the circular is not withdrawn, condemning it as an infringement on the rights of doctors.
