Thiruvananthapuram: The first place in the Margamkali competition held at the Kerala University Youth Festival was awarded to deserving candidates, as per statements from the other two judges accused in bribery allegations. They informed the police that they did not attempt to sabotage the results and that all three judges assigned similar marks to the first-place winners.

Mar Ivanios College secured the first place in the Margamkali competition during the Kerala University Youth Festival. However, SFI activists assaulted , Shaji, one of the three judges, alleging that he tried to sabotage the result. Subsequently, Shaji committed suicide. However, the two other judges informed the Cantonment Police that there was no tampering in the result of the competition and the allegations were false.

The allegation that he had taken money to tamper with the result had caused severe mental stress to Shaji. SFI activists brutally beat up Shaji after he was accused of taking a bribe. It was after this incident that Shaji, upon returning home, committed suicide.
