Thiruvananthapuram: RLV Ramakrishnan has lodged a police complaint against Kalamandalam Satyabhama for alleged racially abusive remarks. The complaint was filed with the Chalakudy DySP, accusing Satyabhama of attempting to castigate RLV Ramakrishnan and saying that he suffered mental distress due to her remarks. RLV Ramakrishnan submitted a written complaint, spanning over 10 pages, along with a video of her remarks to the DySP. As the incident occurred in Thiruvananthapuram, the complaint was transferred to the Vanchiyoor Police.
The controversy erupted after Kalamandalam Satyabhama reportedly made disparaging remarks, stating that black people are not suitable for playing ‘Mohiniyattam ’ and likening RLV Ramakrishnan’s appearance to that of a crow. This derogatory comment sparked widespread criticism, drawing support from various social and cultural spheres for RLV Ramakrishnan. Kalamandalam Satyabhama has claimed that she is facing severe cyber violence and criticism, including on social media platforms.
Following the outcry against Kalamandalam Satyabhama’s remarks, RLV Ramakrishnan has been granted numerous platforms across the state to showcase his Mohiniyattam talent. He recently performed Mohiniyattam at Kalamandalam to a packed audience comprising teachers and students.
