Thiruvananthapuram: The police have taken legal action against a protester who allegedly verbally abused the Chief Minister of Kerala. The individual in question, Sreejith, has been staging protests outside the Secretariat for many years. Cantonment police have filed a case against him under section 294 of the Indian Penal Code.
Sreejith has been protesting in front of the Secretariat for nearly nine years, seeking justice for his brother who died while in police custody. Recently witnesses captured a video footage on their mobile phones showing Sreejith allegedly verbally abusing the Chief Minister. Based on this evidence, the police have registered a case against him.
In 2015, Sreejith initiated his protest outside the Secretariat, demanding justice for his brother Sreejiv, who passed away while in the custody of the Parassala police.
