Thrissur: A severe cyclone has struck Perinjanam beach in Thrissur, causing significant damage. The cyclone made landfall approximately 12 nautical miles away from the beach late yesterday evening. The rough sea waves crashed onto the coast, resulting in extensive destruction. Fishermen in the area are now requesting emergency financial assistance in response to the destruction caused.
They report that three fishing boats have been damaged, and the fishing nets, belonging to the Varaham Fishing Group comprising 60 fishermen, have suffered losses amounting to Rs 15 lakh. The fishermen are facing a dire situation as the nets, purchased through loans for fishing, have been destroyed, leaving them in a state of helplessness.
