Ernakulam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is poised to extend its investigation into the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scam by issuing notice to more leaders affiliated with the CPI (M). Reports suggest that M. K. Kannan and A. C. Moideen, who were previously interrogated by the ED in connection with the case, will also be served notices imminently. Presently, the ED has served a notice to CPI (M) Thrissur District Secretary MM Varghese in this case.
According to the ED, officials responsible for cooperative registrars are implicated in the fraudulent activities at Karuvannur Cooperative Bank. The ED also highlighted that it was the registrar who withheld audit information for a decade. The ED may implicate all individuals who held the registrar position during this period. Meanwhile, the High Court has mandated the quick completion of the ED’s investigation into the Karuvannur Bank scam.
Furthermore, MM Varghese has stated that he has not yet received the notice from the ED. Speaking to the media, he told that if he gets the notice from the ED, he will make a decision after consulting with the party. MM Varghese emphasized that there is no reason not to cooperate with the investigation.
