Thiruvananthapuram: In a move to simplify procedures for obtaining electricity connections for industrial purposes, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has released a circular. Henceforth, no panchayat license or industrial license/registration is required to obtain an electricity connection for industrial purposes.
Applicants are only required to submit their identity card and documents proving their legal right to the land where the connection is needed.
For industrial purposes, there is no need to apply for a power allocation certificate. However, consumers may apply if required for purposes such as securing bank loans.
The circular also specifies that an allotment letter is only necessary for obtaining electricity connections in industrial estates, industrial parks, or special economic zones.
KSEB also mentioned that due to the rising temperatures in Kerala, electricity usage is high and should be reduced as much as possible.
