Idukki: The Idukki Archdiocese screened the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ yesterday, which exposes the untold realities of ‘Love Jihad’ incidents from Kerala to the outside world.
‘The Kerala Story’ was screened in all the Sunday-Class Masses at Churches under the Idukki Archdiocese. The Archdiocese screened the film amidst several political controversies surrounding it. It is reported that the film was screened for students from classes 10 to 12. The screening took place as part of catechism classes held at the church.
The Archdiocese informed that the film was screened with the intention of creating awareness about Islamic extremism for Christian youth. On April 5, the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ was broadcasted on Doordarshan in Kerala, which was strongly objected to by CPI(M) and Congress members.
It is also reported that the Youth Congress staged a protest march to the Doordarshan office in Thiruvananthapuram around 8:30 pm against the broadcast of the movie.
The movie’s release in May 2023 also faced several controversies from the CPI(M) and Congress. Director Sudipto Sen stated that ‘The Kerala Story’ exposes some incidents from Kerala where non-Muslim women were allegedly converted to Islam. Similarly, earlier, several Archdioceses in Kerala, including Idukki, requested believers to watch the movie ‘The Kerala Story.’
