Kozhikkode: Sr.Lucy Kalappura, who protested against rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal, has been expelled from the Fransiscan Clarist congregation. She has been dismissed from the congregation for her’life syle’ and questioning the church.
Superior General informed that this unanimous decision on dismissal was taken in the general council, met on May 11. Sr.Lucy responded they she will move the matters legally.
The Catholic congregation had earlier given notice to Sr. Lucy alleging that she had breached the rules. The ‘crimes’ found by the congregation included that she participated in strike, repeatedly gave interviews to media even after warnings, learned driving and bought a car, refused to submit salary to the convent, published book without permission,breached dress code and so on.
Sr. Lucy Kalappura, in response to the notice, said that she has not done anything wrong and she has been facing torture from the congregation since two months. She also added that the congregation threatened and even denied food for her so as to get their letter signed.
